Following studies in Furniture Design and Technology at RMIT, Victoria in 2007/2008, Justin worked as a maker under a number of prominent furniture manufacturing businesses in both Melbourne and Adelaide. In 2011 he established an autonomous practise as Justin Hermes Design Studio. The past 8 years have been spent honing and developing his craft while completing a wide range of creative private and commercial commissions throughout Australia.
Justin lives in the Adelaide Hills with his artist partner, Morgan Allender. Together they have created a garden and work-spaces around their 1850s shepherd’s cottage, undertaking extensive restoration works (most of which have been completed by Justin), and the planting of countless trees. Their home and work have featured in numerous publications including Country Style Magazine, Frankie Spaces, Green Magazine, Inside Out, and the book Rural Australian Homes by Leta Keens. The Justin Hermes Design studio is a short drive through the Hills, in the picturesque valley of Summertown.
